I guess another possibility would be just to use Synergy or something like that. (Of course switching the monitor inputs by hand would be more of a hassle, too.) My monitor only has one DVI input, but maybe I should get a new monitor that has two, which would open up a wider variety of possible KVM switches because I would only need to switch USB and not the DVI. I guess I'd be open to getting another KVM switch if there's a model that works better. So, is there anything I can do to make this work better? if I VNC in as soon as the mouse hangs, it looks like I'll be able to restart the system cleanly, but as I attempt to do this I find that more and more applications are hanging and no matter what I do the restart will fail to complete. What's worse is, at this point the Mac seems to wind up in some kind of unstable state where processes become more and more unresponsive until there's nothing I can do but do a hard power-off.
